The aim of Health Aid Youth Club, HAYC,
is to educate the school children of the Saboba-Chereponi District
in matters of health promotion and disease prevention. It is the ambition
of Health Aid that through its Actions and the Youth Club knowledge
of disease prevention will spread through the villages of the Saboba-Chereponi
District, ultimately helping to reduce mortality and morbidity from
preventable communicable disease.

The HAYC Constitution:
- Health Aid Youth Clubs will be formed at the following schools:
SDA JSS (Junior Secondary School), Central JSS, Gaala JSS, EP JSS,
St. Charles JSS, EP SS, Sabtech SS.
- From the two secondary schools, Sabtech SS and EPSS, 12 students,
6 from each school, will be selected every May and October by their
patrons to be trained and taught by Health Aid staff.
- These students must then select a President and Vice-President,
Treasurer and Secretary, who will liaise regularly with Health Aid
staff and Patrons of the Club.
- At each Health Aid “Action” (June-July, November-December),
these 12 selected students will be taught in detail about the following
topics – HIV and STDs, Sanitation and Hygiene, Nutrition,
Family Planning.
- In the intervening months between the Health Aid Actions, the
12 students will visit the 6 Schools and give teaching seminars
to assemblies on the above mentioned topics.
- The timetable for these school visits will be drawn up by the
end of each Action by the student body and submitted to Health Aid
staff, who will then submit it to the various schools’ headmasters
and patrons.
- The timetable has to be appropriate and convenient for each school
and gain the approval of the headmaster and patron.
- After each school visit, the student President will submit a
report to the Health-Aid staff.
- Each report should consist of School Name, Name of Patron and
Headmaster, Names of HAYC teaching members, Number of Pupils Present.
The report should then describe the seminar’s proceedings,
positive and negative aspects.
- Teaching the 12 students, provision of necessary teaching materials
for the school visits, fundraising and financial matters will be
the responsibility of Health Aid management staff.
- At the end of each Action, the President will submit to Health
Aid a full appraisal of the HAYC program, including advantages,
disadvantages, and future recommendations.
- It is the responsibility of all HAYC members to ensure the knowledge
learned though HAYC is passed on to their family, friends, and community.
- Health Aid and the Youth Club members will aim to organize an
annual social event promoting our values and principles.
